About Course

Data Journalism is the first series of courses offered by the IQ Media Academy for Journalists and Publishers. The Instructor of Data Journalism & Data Visualization courses is Jacopo Ottaviani, an award-winning data journalist who works as Code for Africa’s Chief Data Officer. He has designed data journalism programmes supported by the World Bank, Google News Initiative, GIZ and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

This course is designed to equip journalists, media executives, and marketing professionals with advanced skills for handling large amounts of data. The data journalism course offers the participants the computational skills needed for data cleaning, analysis, and visualization. This course aims to make participants feel comfortable about using data to tell stories and promote high-quality journalism.

The participants are not required to have any prior knowledge of these specific topics, as the courses are designed to cover all the basics in the beginning.
